Each collection is a hand-picked list of ayahs on one theme, pulled from across the whole Quran rather than from one surah.
Some run long because the Quran returns to the subject often. Paradise and Hellfire has 50 ayahs; the Day of Judgment has 49. Others are short and specific.
The short intro at the top of each page only describes ayahs that are in that collection, so you can check every line against the list below it.
Where to start
If you are new to the Quran, try duas from the Quran. They are short, most of them were said by prophets, and they are the easiest thing to learn by heart.
If something specific is going on, the collections on patience, hardship and rizq and provision are the places to start.
